Big Bulb is a free indoor positioning and navigation system. It is suitable for normal people to use, but it is also specifically designed for visually impaired people. If you open Big Bulb in supported buildings, the user’s real time position will be shown immediately on the floor plan. Points of interest like exits, washrooms, and shops can also be searched and selected. The user can turn on navigation to let Big Bulb plan a route and guide the user towards the destination.
Our goal is to empower visually impaired people to live independently and barrier-free by teaching them to use smartphones in a smart city. Therefore, we specifically designed the user interface and operation of Big Bulb for the visually impaired. Voice navigation can guide visually impaired people to their destination, and Big Bulb fully supports Apple’s VoiceOver function so that visually impaired people can easily operate their phone by voice feedback.
